"Mayfield"director: Zach Daulton
James Mayfield has spent the last decade performing a one-man show from his youth in an attempt to trigger memories that are very important to him. However, things take a turn when he is pushed into closing his show with a little help from some lost memories. (19:30, OH) Zach Daulton is a filmmaker from southern Ohio. Over the past two years he’s been working with country singer Luke Bryan on his feature length documentary and web content. Now he’s trying to branch out of music and advertising and get his foot in the door with major motion pictures. |
"Visionary"director: Caroline Knight
A short student documentary about a woman who is 100% blind and founded one of the most inspiring blind mentoring programs in the nation. How she did it? Tandem bicycling. (10:53, TN) Caroline Knight is double majoring in Cinema Studies and Journalism at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She has a strong passion for broad social issues yet her work narrows on the individual. Caroline has been featured on local and student run news publications for her various projects and strives to make real world impact with her work. |

After high school he toured in a hardcore punk band for four years before moving from Kentucky. Since then, he has studied acting/improvisation at the The iO Theater and The Second City, as well having worked on numerous productions as a freelancer in Art Department. |
"Tides"director: Brittany Alsot
Two men meet on the "L" in Chicago. Through dance and movement, "Tides" examines the ebb and flow of a relationship. (5:16, IL) Brittany Alsot is a queer, feminist, anti-racist filmmaker focused on creating inclusive, empathetic working environments for the cast and crew. She believes in the healing power of storytelling and art that represents the outsider experience. She started her career in Seattle and now lives and works in her native Chicago. Her short film, "A Meal With Dad," premiers this November at the Chi-Town Multicultural Film Festival. |
"Gaining Altitude"director: Kristen Currier
An animated documentary focused on women in aviation history. (3:21, IL) Kristen Currier grew up moving across the country with her military family and currently lives in Boston. She finished her BFA in animation at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She combines hand drawn textures with digital composites in mostly mixed media pieces. Her films have screened in film festivals both internationally and domestically. She loves animated documentary and has a strong interest in cryptozoology and aviation. |
"Recursion"director: Joel Benjamin
A marooned astronaut and his bestial companion wander a strange land until one day they come across something truly mysterious that could forever put a rift in their friendship. (14:49, IL) Joel Benjamin, a transplant to Chicago atop rampaging bison from northwest Iowa, is a School of the Art Institute graduate spending most of his time moving things around pixel by pixel. He is adjunct faculty of both SAIC and DePaul University teaching 2D and 3D animation and is an award-winning animator and filmmaker. |

A journey through the mind of a depressed individual. (6:08, IN) Margaret Orr is an animator and film maker from Bloomington, Indiana. Since 2012 she has created four short films, which have been featured in film festivals around the world. She earned her MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology is 2015, as well as her BS from DePaul University in 2012. |

"This is not a love song"director: Ursula Ellis
In this expressionistic coming-of-age film, two self-alienated teenage girls with a Wikipedia-based understanding of punk rock music attend their first live show with some unexpected and potentially long-lasting consequences. (10:06, WV) Ursula Ellis is a NYC-based director, writer, musician, and actor. Born to Army officer parents, Ursula grew up in two countries and six different states before graduating high school, but considers her home to be West Virginia. She received her B.Sc. in 2012 in Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University. In 2013, she began studying at Columbia University for screenwriting and directing, during which time she has written and directed four more shorts, as well as completed two feature scripts, one of which, entitled Anomalies, was a 2015 quarterfinalist for the Nicholls Fellowship, CineStory Feature Retreat & Fellowship Competition, and Scriptapalooza International Screenwriting Competition. She is also the recipient of a 2016 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Short Film Production Award for her upcoming thesis film, Crick in the Holler, to be shot on location in West Virginia in December 2016. |
